Dr. Francesco Berti earned his PhD in Chemical Science at the University of Siena (Italy). He is Senior Director and Head of the Polysaccharide Platforms Center of Excellence – Bacterial Vaccines R&D at GlaxoSmithKline Italy. He has a 23-year experience in vaccine R&D, playing a leading role in the development of novel vaccines against bacterial (N. meningitidis, S. typhi Vi, N. gonorrhea, S. pneumoniae, Streptococcus A and B, S. aureus and E. coli) viral (HIV, RSV, CMV) and fungal (C. albicans) diseases. Dr. Berti is author and co-author of 114 published scientific papers and inventor/co-inventor of more than 20 patents.
